POSITION:

Nursing Program Director

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential duties and responsibilities of the Director include:

  • Supervise, coordinate, and administer all aspects of the Nursing Program and activities associated with the Program;
  • Provide a clear vision for the program and compelling leadership to realize the vision;
  • Ensure program quality that will meet accreditation standards;
  • Maintain and advance strong collaborative relationships with local and regional off-campus health care providers and government organizations in support of the program;
  • Provide leadership in developing and maintaining quality faculty, staff, and students through recruitment, retention, and development, with special attention to achieving Affirmative Action goals;
  • Execute responsible budget planning and management;
  • Participate actively in private and corporate development activities and extramural fund-raising efforts on behalf of the program.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • An earned doctorate in nursing or related field and a master’s degree in nursing with teaching, research and scholarly achievement commensurate with a tenured faculty appointment at the university. Candidates with significant progress towards an earned doctorate in nursing or related field and a master’s degree in nursing may be considered.
  • Experience with clinical nursing and baccalaureate nursing education; experience with distance learning modalities is preferred.
  • Experience with preparation and leadership for academic accreditation of nursing programs.
  • Record of success in forging collaborative relationships with health care providers and government organizations.
  • Evidence of success in securing external funding.
  • Eligible for licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Illinois.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
